I had gum surgery and was given Perioplus Maintenance rinse to use. I’ve noticed my bridgework is starting to stain brown. Is this from the rinse? Can I do anything to get my bridgework back to normal?
Yes, the rinse is the problem. It contains Chlorhexidine which is an excellent anti-bacterial agent. However, it does have a side effect of causing some browning. Generally when it is prescribed, you should also be given Supersmile toothpaste. This is an excellent toothpaste that contains calprox, which is one of the only ways to both eliminate and prevent this stain. Even without the stain it is an excellent toothpaste that works very well with cosmetic work.
